Head of Business Pursuit

Role Purpose

  • Formulate and implement business development strategies through coordination of the business development team’s efforts to create new business and sustain current accounts
  • Continually refine the sales process and ensure that the business development team work effectively and prioritise workloads to generate leads for the Exams division through market and client research
  • The position will be a core part of the Exams management team.

Main Accountabilities But Not Limited To The Following

Winning Business

  • Responsible for development of business pursuit strategies and executing these through to their successful implementation
  • Responsible for identification and segregation of potential market segments and developing positioning strategy
  • Monitor market intelligence within the industry in terms of market development, new products, competitive activity, new customers, etc
  • Develops value propositions with support from Head of Commercial with input from region.

Relationship and Stakeholder management

  • Develop, maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients, thereby preserving these relationships for referrals and future business. This may include presentations to large group of people.
  • Identifies and shares examples of best practice with colleagues in the country/region to drive continuous improvement in key account management and stakeholders
  • Responsible for generating new business relationships

Commercial Planning

  • Carries out routine monitoring and standard reporting on commercial data involving sales, profitability and/or co-funding and sponsorship opportunities using an agreed set of corporate processes, techniques and report templates
  • Responsible for meeting, and where possible, exceeding volume and revenue targets set by management for all exams products
  • Responsible for budget management, sales forecasting and delivery of financial plans
  • Collects, reports and uses Customer/ Market Intelligence from what is seen/heard on the ground and link to Marketing on Insights.

Analysis and Reporting

  • Conducts research, using a range of information channels, into business activities, challenges and key personnel in target customer, partner or sponsor organisations to support developing new business and cultural relations opportunities
  • Coordinates and organises contact with stakeholders in key client/partner/sponsor organisations– e.g. meetings, conference slots, sending targeted marketing or thought leadership materials etc

Minimum/essential

Role specific knowledge and experience:

Substantial Sales/Business Development experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Sales, Key Account Management,
  • Customer Channel Sales Development,
  • Business Planning / Dynamic Forecasting
  • Demand planning processes and pipeline management.

Experience Of

  • Minimum five years of experience in a similar role
  • Business Development / sales
  • Working with and managing Government/ministry level stakeholder
  • Contract Management
  • Experience working in a compliant and regulated environment
  • Contract management and developing bids, costing and pricing for large scale opportunities
  • Market research and horizon scanning of sector
  • Monitoring Ministry changes which will impact on business
  • Working with regulatory bodies and building and maintaining stakeholder relationships

Desirable

  • Experience in working in the education sector
